Yn Carreg Hirfaen mae gennym gynllun cynhwysfawr, sydd wedi’i gytuno a’i fonitro gan Awdurdod Lleol Sir Gaerfyrddin ac ERW, i hyrwyddo cynnydd a chael gwared ar rwystrau i ddysgu i fyfyrwyr sy’n gymwys ar gyfer y cyllid hwn.

PUPIL DEPRIVATION GRANT

Carreg Hirfaen PDG Statement

The Pupil Deprivation Grant (PDG) is allocated to schools with pupils who come from low- income families and are currently known to be eligible for free school meals (e-FSM) and pupils who have been looked after continuously for more than six months (LAC).

Schools are expected to make the best use of this funding to implement sustainable strategies that will quickly bring about changes for learners eligible for free school meals or who are LAC.

As a school we have agreed the following three steps:

  1. to identify the target group of pupils, its characteristics and needs
  2. to address pupils' wellbeing and plan literacy and numeracy interventions which make the most effective use of resources
  3. to monitor and evaluate the impact of resources

For 2022 -23 Ysgol Carreg Hirfaen was provided with a PDG allocation of £8,050.

At Carreg Hirfaen we have a comprehensive plan, agreed and monitored by Carmarthenshire Local Authority and ERW, to promote progress and remove barriers to learning for students eligible for this funding.

We have used the funding available to:

Objective 1: Target learning and improve outcomes for eFSM pupils with regards to Literacy and Numeracy.

Objective 2: To improve standards of Welsh ORACY amongst FSM group.

Objective 3: To improve pupils' emotional wellbeing by introducing the Mood Tracker software to monitor pupils’ emotional state on a daily basis and ensuring the implementation of ELSA.

Objective 4: To ensure that all pupils are given equal access to the curriculum.

Objective 5: Continue to enhance our outdoor provision to foster engagement, improved oracy and problem-solving skills for our vulnerable pupils.

It is not appropriate for the School to publish its plan in detail due to the risk of identifying individuals.
