This term our Parents' Evenings will be held in person with your child's class teacher at the school. You will have the opportunity to browse your child's workbooks before discussing their progress and next steps in learning with the teacher. Both evenings will run from 3.30pm until 6.30pm. Gwahoddir rhieni disgyblion yr ysgol i gyfarfod swyddogion Estyn ar bnawn dydd Mawrth nesaf. Bydd y cyfarfod yn cael ei gynnal yn yr ysgol ac yn dechrau am 3.45pm.

Carreg Hirfaen parents are invited to a meeting with Estyn officers next Tuesday afternoon (2/5/23). The meeting will be at the school and will start at 3.45pm.

Bydd ysgol Carreg Hirfaen yn cael ei harolygu gan Estyn rhwng dydd Mawrth, Mai 2il a dydd Gwener, Mai 5ed 2023.

Fel rhan o'r broses arolygu, rhoddir cyfle i rhieni lenwi holiadur am yr ysgol.

I gael mynediad i'r holiadur dilynwch y ddolen ganlynol neu sganiwch y Cod QR i'w hagor. Ar ol cwblhau'r holiadur dewiswch y botwm 'Submit' apeidiwch a gwasgu'r ddolen 'Back'. Bydd dewis y ddolen 'Back' yn creu anhawsterau i Estyn wrth ddadansoddi'r holiaduron.

Carreg Hirfaen will be inspected by Estyn between Tuesday, May 2nd and Friday, May 5th 2023.

As part of the inspection process, parents are given the opportunity to fill in a questionnaire about the school.

A reminder that you are all welcome to join us at our Educational Evening tomorrow night at the school. It will start at 6.30pm and the PTA will be providing refreshments during the evening.

DYDD LLUN, 17EG EBRILL 2023

MONDAY, APRIL 17TH 2023

Bydd hyfforddiant mewn swydd nesaf yr ysgol yn cael ei gynnal ar ddydd Llun Ebrill 17eg 2023 ac yn canolbwyntio ar Cymhwysedd Digidol ac agweddau o'r Cwricwlwm Newydd. Ni fydd disgyblion yn mynychu'r ysgol ar y diwrnod hwn felly ac yn dychwelyd ar ddydd Mawrth, Ebrill 18fed 2023.

 

Our next INSET day will be held on Monday April 17th 2023 and will focus on developing Digital Competence and certain aspects of the new Curriculum for Wales. Pupils will return to school the following day on Tuesday, April 18th 2023.

Cyflwynir gwybodaeth i rhieni am y cwricwlwm newydd ac am y gwahanol ffyrdd y gallant gefnogi eu plant yn eu dysgu trwy hyrwyddo gwahanol weithgareddau yn y cartref. Noson i'r rhieni yw hon wrth gwrs ac nid i'r plant.

EDUCATIONAL EVENING

An Educational Evening for parents will be held at the school on Wednesday, March 29th starting at 6.30pm.

Information will be presented to parents about the new curriculum and the different ways they can support their children's learning by promoting various activities at home.

The focus will be on:

• The New Curriculum

• Sumdog - Developing Children's Mathematics and Numeracy Skills

• Supporting your children's Reading Skills

• Supporting pupils' Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing

Achosion Lleol o Strep A

Efallai y byddwch yn ymwybodol am gynnydd diweddar yn nifer yr hysbysiadau a gafwyd o’r dwymyn goch a’r clefyd streptococol ymledol. Plant o dan 10 oed sy’n cael eu heffeithio gan yr haint hwn yn bennaf, ac felly gall achosion ohono ddigwydd mewn ysgolion a meithrinfeydd. Bydd plant hŷn hefyd yn dueddol o gael dolur gwddf streptococol, ond efallai na fyddan nhw’n cael brech y dwymyn goch.
Arwyddion a symptomau’r dwymyn goch 
Mae’r dwymyn goch, a elwir weithiau’n scarlatina, yn glefyd heintus sy’n cael ei achosi gan facteria streptococws grŵp A (GAS) (a elwir hefyd yn Streptococcus pyogenes). Mae'n heintus iawn a gellir ei ddal drwy gysylltiad uniongyrchol ag unigolyn sydd wedi’i heintio neu drwy'r aer o ddiferion o beswch neu disian. Symptom nodweddiadol y dwymyn goch yw brech binc fân ar draws y corff sy'n teimlo fel papur gwydrog i’w gyffwrdd. Mae symptomau eraill yn cynnwys tymheredd uchel, wyneb gwritgoch a thafod coch, chwyddedig. 
Mae’r driniaeth yn syml ac fel arfer mae’n cynnwys rhoi cwrs o wrthfiotigau penisilin.

Cymhlethdodau’r dwymyn goch a’r haint streptococol
Nid yw'r rhan fwyaf o achosion o’r dwymyn goch yn achosi unrhyw gymhlethdodau, yn enwedig os yw'r cyflwr yn cael ei drin yn iawn. Fodd bynnag, gall cymhlethdodau ddigwydd yn ystod cyfnod cynnar y clefyd, gan gynnwys haint yn y glust, casgliad yn y gwddf, sinwsitis, niwmonia a llid yr ymennydd.

• Dylid cynghori rhieni plant sy’n sâl i gael cyngor meddygol ar gyfer diagnosis a thriniaeth.
• Dylai person sydd â’r dwymyn goch gadw o’r ysgol am 24 awr ar ôl cychwyn triniaeth wrthfiotig briodol.
• Gall hylendid dwylo da ac osgoi lledaenu diferion anadlol (fel gyda’r ffliw- "ei ddal, ei daflu, ei ddifa") helpu i atal yr haint rhag lledaenu

 

AWARENESS OF STREP-A SYMPTOMS

You may be aware of an increase in notifications of scarlet fever and invasive streptococcal disease locally. This infection mostly affects children aged under 10 years, and so outbreaks can occur in schools and nurseries. Older children are also susceptible to streptococcal sore throats but may not have the rash of scarlet fever. Signs and symptoms of scarlet fever Scarlet fever, sometimes called scarlatina, is an infectious disease caused by group A streptococcus (GAS) bacteria (also known as Streptococcus pyogenes). It is highly infectious and can be caught through direct contact with an infected person or through the air via droplets from coughs or sneezes. The characteristic symptom of scarlet fever is a widespread, fine pink-red rash that feels like sandpaper to touch. Other symptoms include a high temperature, a flushed face and a red, swollen tongue. Treatment is straightforward and usually involves a course of penicillin antibiotics. Complications of scarlet fever and streptococcal infection Most cases of scarlet fever cause no complications, especially if the condition is properly treated. However, complications in the early stages of the disease can include ear infection, throat abscess, sinusitis, pneumonia and meningitis. Recommended actions • Parents of unwell children should seek medical advice for diagnosis and treatment • A person with scarlet fever should withdraw from schools / settings for 24 hours after the commencement of appropriate antibiotic treatment • Good hand hygiene and avoidance of spread of respiratory secretions (as per influenza- “catch it, bin it, kill it”) can help to prevent the spread of infection
